For example: “Sam ate the sandwich.” “Ate” is a verb saying what Sam did. For the case of verbs indicating state, let’s take the example: “She likes ice cream.” And also consider: “I am happy.” In these two examples the verbs (“likes”, “am”) are used to indicate the state of being of someone.
